Specially curated for Q Festival, Carruthers & Kent bring you their Debut Summer Wine Fair. You will have the chance to taste over 90 wines, champagnes and sparkling wines, and a smattering of Liqueur Sherries and Ports, a Master Class with food pairing and behind every table, wine experts will be on hand to answer questions. All of this and music as well.

Blogging; create your own opportunities

A diary, a marketing tool, form of creative expression, reviewer voice and also a commercial opportunity, blogging is everywhere. The Culture Vulture invites the North East blogger community, marketeers, writing enthusiasts, SMEs and beyond for an evening of storytelling, experience sharing and networking.

We will be joined by highly sought after full time professional blogger Samantha Rickleton, North East Family Fun, who turned her family focused blog into a successful business working with big brand names and the brilliant Rachel Kershaw, Life in Geordie Land, a lifestyle blog following her cultural experiences in the North East, which led onto exciting opportunities including working for NewcastleGatesheadInitiative.

Ceilidh on the Quay

Drink, Draw, Jammin’ and Paint

Enter the Spiegeltent for an evening of creativity themed around mystery and imagination. Artist Bernadette Koranteng will lead a Drink & Draw session; relax, drink, chat and draw. There will be themed images to inspire, drawing games to provoke and a group mural to contribute to. The Culture Vulture will be running an Art Jammin’ session encouraging abstract self-expression through painting whilst jammin’ to a corker of a playlist.  No rules, be creative without limits and dip in and out.

You can expect Shonda Rhimes ‘My Year of saying yes to everything', Seth Godin ‘How to get your ideas to spread’, Amy Cuddy ‘Your body language shapes who you are’ and more. There will be time in between talks for collective discussion and networking.

Glitz and Glamour: getting ready for a party!

Get your glad rags out, grab your dancing shoes and get ready to experience the Golden Age of Glamour in this costume talk. Be dazzled by 1920's flapper fashions, exude Hollywood glamour in 1930's silk, paint the town red in your 1950's gown and swing into the Sixties in your slinky sheaths! Join costume historian Meridith Towne as she invites you into her wardrobe of original vintage dresses and help her to decide what to wear for the party!

 

Every attendee will receive a “craft in a bag” from The Crafthood to have a go at or take home and a pop up from TrendListr  will showcase exclusive and curated high quality authentic vintage with items for sale

The evening consists of multiple scratches of work that they have been working on during the course of their degree and will include a performance of Drag Me to Love by Bonnie and The Bonnettes

Get paper making and creating in the lush surrounding of our Spiegeltent. Have a go at paper cutting with artist Fiona Jamieson, design, cut and open up to reveal a treasure. Join animator Sheryl Jenkins for some crafty animation to create your own stop-motion film using our iPads. Papercraft miniature magical worlds with artist Effie Burns and create sculptural wearables using traditional origami and paper folding techniques with artist Yvette Hawkins..
