Join GemArts Masala Festival on a South Asian exploration. Start your day off right and say Namaste to the sun at a morning Yoga class, join Indian storytellers on an adventure like no other and sample delicious desi snacks as we Chai and Chaat.

 

Masala Festival serves up a mix and blend of the finest South Asian arts and culture from 17th to 23rd July.

Culture Camp: Street dancing Grooves and B-boy Moves

9.30am - 4.30pm

 

Work with Newcastle-based champion break dancers Bad Taste Cru across the day and learn how to fuse physical theatre, dynamic b-boy moves and dance techniques to create your own performance breakdancing crew!

 

Suitable for ages 12-16yrs.

A fun hour of dancing, singing and drama as little ones become Mini Masters for the morning and learn energetic dances, sing some of their favourite tunes and play fun drama games!     Children must be accompanied. Refreshments provided.

Junior Masters, 7-10 yrs

Our junior workshop group will get the opportunity to be a part of an hour of all three elements of the performing arts. We will teach our own dances, enjoy a sing-along and play a number of fun drama games! Children must be accompanied. Refreshments provided.

A fun, friendly and immersive screening of this much loved Disney classic. Watch the magic of this wonderful movie come alive in the circus themed Spielgeltent, with fun activities and face painting with Screenage Kids. Circus food (hot dogs and popcorn) will be available to purchase on site.

Join Chalk with your littlies to pay homage to '80s big hitters; from The Cure to Bowie, The Smiths to New Order, OMD to Psychedelic Furs. Craft your own giant mobile phone, suit up with shoulder pads at the Power Suit Bar and rummage through the dressing up box to get that 80s look.

 

There’ll be a live DJ, 80s sensory projections, power grabbing and hula hooping. Scribble on the giant drawing floor, bathe in bubbles and throw some shapes!

 

Chalk events are targeted at families. All welcome as long as there are both adults and children in your party
